RESiLICON completes key technical milestone for planned polysilicon facility
Groningen, The Netherlands – 27 May 2026, RESiLICON has successfully completed the pre-FEED (Front End Engineering Design) phase of its planned ultra-pure polysilicon facility.
The pre-FEED represents a key step in advancing the project from concept toward execution. It provides a significantly improved level of technical scope, confirming key design choices, establishing a more robust understanding of cost and confirming an attractive business case.
The facility is recognised as a Strategic Project under the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA), reinforcing its role in strengthening European supply chains for critical materials used in solar, semiconductors, and battery technologies.
Remco Rijn, CEO of RESiLICON, said: “Completing the pre-FEED phase is an important milestone for RESiLICON. We now have a technically defined project with a clear basis for the next stage of development. Our focus is on progressing the project in a structured and disciplined way, working with partners and stakeholders to realise a facility that contributes to Europe’s industrial resilience and long-term competitiveness.”
The phase was delivered in close collaboration with key partners including Advanced Material Solutions (AMS), Fluor, Haskoning and Alztec. Each contributing specialist expertise across engineering, automation, process design, permitting, cost estimation, and execution planning.
With this phase completed, the project is now positioned to progress to FEED, where the design will be further developed for the next phase of development and execution.

About RESiLICON
RESiLICON is developing a large-scale facility in the Netherlands to produce ultra-pure polysilicon, a critical upstream material for solar, semiconductor, and battery technologies. The facility is planned for Groningen, the Netherlands. The project is designed to support more resilient and diversified European supply chains through advanced process design and efficient, high-quality production. To learn more about us click here.
About pre-FEED
Pre-FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) is an early-stage engineering phase in which the project design is developed in sufficient detail to confirm key technical choices, define scope, and improve cost accuracy. Completion of this phase enables progression to the next stage of engineering development (FEED).
Next phase – FEED
The FEED phase further develops the project design to a level suitable for detailed engineering, procurement, and construction planning. The FEED will enable sufficient detail to underpin the Final Investment Decision.
Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA)
The EU Net-Zero Industry Act aims to scale up the manufacturing of clean technologies and strengthen European supply chains. Strategic Projects are recognised for their potential contribution to these objectives. RESiLICON is one of a limited number of projects in the Netherlands recognised under the NZIA.
